Keeping Forklifts & Small Plant Fire Safe...

Machinery and equipment are business critical items for many businesses, so the cost of replacement or losses due to unavailability following a fire can be extremely damaging to a company’s cashflow, or even their reputation.

In addition to the plant itself, the whole nearby area could also be damaged. For instance, where a piece of machinery is operating in a warehouse, any fire could cause disruption to other nearby buildings, as well as raw materials and finished products which may be stored in the vicinity. More serious still is the potential risk to staff.

Industrial fire suppression systems from Firetrace provide a straightforward solution to these concerns. Our systems can be configured to guard all kinds of small plant equipment from the risk of fire.

The tubing can be fitted with different extinguishing agents, depending on the type of fuel being used in the machinery to be protected. Where vehicles are powered by electricity, specialist gases can be employed to protect the chargers and batteries.

Protecting Your Plant with Firetrace

If you thought all industrial fire suppression systems for small plant machinery needed electronic panels and detectors, think again. Firetrace® offers a simpler alternative, designed around pneumatics. It uses a unique system of detection tubing not just to detect a fire at an early stage, but also to extinguish it quickly.

This makes Firetrace both more affordable and more reliable than electronics based systems, as there is no need for batteries or power supplies.

So How Does it work?

The cylinder valve is connected up to a network of linear tubing, made to our own patented design. The tubing is put under pressure by being charged with a gas, nitrogen, which keeps the extinguishing agent inside the cylinder. However, if the worst happens and fire does break out, then the tubing will melt at the site of the fire, releasing the exinguishant directly onto the fire.

In some types of system, plumbed diffusers are used to deploy the extinguishing agent straight on to the fire. It is also possible for a switch to be added as an extra safeguard. This switch is usually under pressure and held closed – but it will open if there is a pressure loss, sounding an alarm or closing down the machinery.
